Why the hell do people insist on comparing the gore and gore in this film with the gore in it's earlier and lesser known incarnations? I mean seriously, has anybody seen the original film? I liked it better, but it's not nearly as gory. People keep complaining about how this is the best sequel ever made, when it's obvious that the first film was far more effective. Let's keep this in perspective, the original was made at a time when gore was taboo, and still to this day, even today, gore is not taboo, it's treated as a dirty word. Granted, I never went to see this movie as a kid, but as a teenager, I liked the original better, but I still don't care. Anyway, I also loved the movie, but I could never compare it to the original. That is a fact. The reason for this is simple. The original was made a long time ago, while this movie was made way before the 60s. There is a reason for this, and that is the fact that the original had no sequel. The reason it did not follow the same formula was because that wasn't needed. So the original was original because it had a story, it was different, and was not over-rated because of the sequel. So people still have the right to judge it, but at the same time, I have seen plenty of films over the last 50 years, and this is one of them. It has its flaws, it has a few parts where the direction and camera-work is not as perfect as it could have been, but in all honesty, these are relatively minor flaws. It is a good film. I don't know why people are so hesitant to enjoy it. In the end, this film was a fun action thriller, and that is exactly what it was. I hope this review will help people see the difference between films.
