Let's face it, the "Alien" franchise isn't really up to much. So when an alien species attacks a U.S. scientific station, the crew (led by the charismatic Will Smith) must find a way to stop the threat before they get wiped out. After two disappointing "Alien" sequels (the first one being a complete joke, and the second being a big disappointment), I was really looking forward to the latest installment, "The Outer Limits," but unfortunately, the film was disappointing, even more so than its predecessor. It is certainly the most ambitious film of the franchise (the previous two films were more-or-less infrequently-thought-of-as-films). The "Outer Limits" director, Monte Hellman, did an excellent job of bringing the characters of the previous films to the screen in a way that was more consistent with the novels of the original series. The cast is filled with solid actors: Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jeff Goldblum, David Keith, and most of all, Bill Pullman. The performances of all of these actors were absolutely phenomenal. They were all talented and charismatic. They brought their characters to life in a way that made them very real and believable. The story was very enjoyable and very compelling. The actors were given the chance to do what they did best: tell a story. I also liked the ending. In many ways, I think that the "Outer Limits" was the best film of the entire "Alien" franchise, and probably the best film of the first movie. The movie was more story-driven than the first two films. And the film was very enjoyable, with many interesting and hilarious moments. I'm not really sure how many people will be able to sit through the whole thing, but I think that most people will be very entertained by it. The only problem I had with the film was the ending. Although it was very well-done, it did seem a bit rushed. I can't really blame it on the film itself, because I felt it was very well-done, but I think it could've been better. I give this film a 8.8/10.
