Description In Georgian England, Mrs. Bennet raises her five daughters - Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia with the purpose of getting married with a rich husband that can support the family. They are not from the upper class, and their house in Hertfordshire will be inherited by a distant cousin if Mr. Bennet dies. When the wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy arrive in town to spend the summer in a mansion nearby their property, the shy and beautiful Jane falls in love for Mr. Bingley, and Lizzie finds Mr. Darcy a snobbish and proud man, and she swears to loathe him forever. This is the beginning of their wonderful love story.

Most of us will be familiar with the two main characters. (Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Darcy) Of course, there are others, but it is the two central characters that make this film stand out. In most films they are just enemies, the two clashing on both sides, but here they are more like equals. There is the warlord who seems to be the only sane one, and his wife who he seems to adore. Her husband seems to love her more than him, but as the story progresses she begins to realize that they are in love with one another. There is the classic teacher who seems to know more about life than he is letting on, and a man whose passions seem to have more to do with what happens to him than anything else. Of course there is the mysterious man who is called by the dukes as if he were a threat to their kingdom, but there is much more to him than that. He is rather more of a deus ex machina than anything else, but he still helps with the war. He may seem to be the all knowing force behind the war, but in fact he is the deus ex machina. It is the deus ex machina who helps us connect with the story, but they are not just there for the sake of it. Each of them has something important to do in the story, and we connect with them through their own actions, rather than the way they are related to the main characters. In this way each character can become the most important person in the story, and then we feel all the more connected to it. The story is quite intricate, and if you are interested in Shakespeare, you will find many similarities between the two stories, though some of the scenes might not seem so dramatic if you have seen the stage play. In fact, the film was not nearly as good as the stage play, but it is still a really good movie, and it has become a favorite of mine. In fact, I cannot think of another film that I have seen so many of the same words in. It is almost like two separate films, and if you don't watch both you will miss a lot of the great dialogue that comes out of it. But the major character has been played by two different actors, so you may not be able to spot them. Just remember that the very actors that are playing them are acting in their own films, and it is amazing how different they are from each other. I do recommend it, especially if you like the stage play, because it will really make you appreciate the main characters even more.
