Description Maximus is a powerful Roman general, loved by the people and the aging Emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Before his death, the Emperor chooses Maximus to be his heir over his own son, Commodus, and a power struggle leaves Maximus and his family condemned to death. The powerful general is unable to save his family, and his loss of will allows him to get captured and put into the Gladiator games until he dies. The only desire that fuels him now is the chance to rise to the top so that he will be able to look into the eyes of the man who will feel his revenge.

I'll start with what I liked about the movie. the fight scenes. when Russell Crowe enters the arena to fight and takes on another character who turns out to be a real villain in the same scene, I'm not sure how to explain this, but it's really quite cool. When Maximus and the gods get into the fight I'm also very impressed. The scenery is beautiful. And the action scenes are very well done. And of course the special effects are a lot of fun. I really did like the ending and it's nice to see Maximus and Marcus on the big screen together, and then we get to see one of the best battle scenes I've ever seen, when Marcus and Maximus fight against a double-crossing tyrant (sorry to be a spoiler, but it's in there) And I do like the music too, when they finally reveal the truth about the gods and what they really want. and this is also because the movie is really romantic and it's all a little cheesy, but there are some things that are very beautiful about this movie. I don't know why I don't like the whole concept of the brothers fighting for their own interest and who are they really? It's confusing and the whole ending is pretty much the same. I really think the idea of the brothers fighting for their interest is great and I could really feel the emotions in that scene. But I do think they should have killed Marcus off at some point, I don't know if I'd have been satisfied if he was killed off later on. In general I did like the movie, but not as much as I liked the earlier movies. Overall I liked the movie, and I will recommend it to anyone who likes the first one and I hope they make a movie about the relationship between Maximus and Marcus as well. 7/10
