Before I saw this movie I was expecting a standard Hollywood comedy with some cultural significance. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a movie that I could watch over and over again. I really feel that this movie is the true American equivalent to The Godfather. The acting was superb, the script was excellent, the direction was amazing, and the photography was spectacular. The cinematography was a little confusing at first but as the movie progressed I understood why. For example, when Mr. Whitmore and Mr. Tate are sitting on a bench talking about their friend's death, one of the shots was the outside of the house, but the next shot was of the back of the house, and it showed the grass growing on the other side. I don't know how that was done, but it was very creative. I also liked how the lighting was different for every scene. I had trouble following some of the scenes, but I will not be too surprised if the lighting has been tweaked for the final cut. My only problem with this movie was that I found it very hard to keep up with the plot. This movie was very long and at times I just wanted to cut out the last ten minutes and watch it over and over again. I think that the people who gave this movie low ratings may have been very upset by the ending. It was very emotional and so I was very happy that it was the end. I am also going to have to say that this movie was a wonderful compliment to David Lynch's "Blue Velvet." This movie is one of the best I have seen in years. It is a definite must-see. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who has ever liked David Lynch and/or anyone who has ever wanted to be an actor.

The Tomorrow Man is one of those rare films that both amaze and annoy me in equal measure. On one hand, it is an affecting, emotional drama of loss and sorrow. The acting is superb, and the script is sharp and full of real depth. On the other hand, I cannot help but feel that the film is so repetitive that it becomes tedious, and the story is so clichéd that I started to wonder how this all happened. I would have liked to see more of the early part of the film, as I found it more interesting. The film also lacks the intense nature of The Day After, which I think is the director's most effective film. On the other hand, the use of the 3D effects is superb, and the scene where Will tries to save his brother from drowning in the ocean is incredible. On the other hand, there are so many missed opportunities that the film is easily forgotten after the first half hour. The dialog is often long, but the most interesting scenes are when Will tells the story of the relationship between his brother and his daughter, and how he lost his son and daughter to a self-centered, irresponsible young man. The ending is also rather predictable, but that's not what makes it a bad film. It is that the film is so repetitive that I started to wonder how the entire story of the film came to be. But I am so glad that I saw the film. I can't help but think that this film was a great attempt, but the story is so terrible that it can only be compared to the tragically great film Days of Heaven.
