Description Whiling the time away racing cars and hanging out daily with his friends, the working-class Italian-American underachiever and suave greaser, Gio Fortunato, is the undisputed king of late-1980s Queens' bustling Franny Lew boulevard. Always on the hunt for beautiful ladies, Gio loves to cruise past the avenue's regular joints in his black turbocharged Buick GNX, when, out of the blue, he spots an unknown sensual brunette who calls herself Francesca. And, just like that, a whirlwind summer romance starts to bloom, against the backdrop of catchy 80s freestyle music, youthful excitement, and an onslaught of contrasting emotions. Now, Gio feels ready to embrace the change; however, is this mysteriously alluring girl his soulmate? Can there be a future between the nice Jewish girl and the handsome bad boy from the other side of the tracks?

In the 1960s, John Ford, Jim Carey, and Gene Hackman were the best of the best in their roles as actors, as well as in their careers. With the passing of the early 70s, this time period is passed and the 80s is upon us, and the films of that era will be remembered. This film is no exception. The story of this film is about a wealthy man who, in order to gain his independence, decides to take on a "wife". The man, known as "Jack" (played by Tom Cruise), is a widower, but his wife, played by Olivia De Havilland, is not a widow. The man, now an elderly man, is a businessman who is looking for a partner, and decides to hire Olivia De Havilland. He says that she will help him in his quest to find a partner. He thinks that she is the best woman for the job. In order to convince her to take on the role of his wife, he goes to a "seminar" that he has attended. In this seminar, he is told that he must not only pay his wife, but he must also pay her what she wants. Jack gets the idea that he can get the money, but he will not be able to pay her what she wants. He then goes to the bank to find out how much he will have to pay her. He gets into a serious argument with the bank manager, and the manager says that he will not allow the bank to pay Jack his full salary. Jack then goes to the bank and finds out that he will have to pay Olivia De Havilland exactly what she wants. Olivia is angry at this and is determined to get her money. She gets into a fight with Jack and the manager, but Jack's attitude and his logic in dealing with the situation is what saves the day. Jack is ultimately able to pay Olivia what she wants. In the end, Jack decides to pay Olivia what she wants. Olivia then goes back to the seminar to get the money that Jack had paid her. Jack then gets the money and Olivia pays him. Olivia and Jack go back to the hotel, where they agree that they will do the job that they agreed to do. Olivia then leaves Jack with the money, and the next morning Jack takes the money back to the bank. He has paid Olivia exactly what she wanted. Olivia has now learned that Jack was the one who hired her. The film ends with Jack taking the money back to the bank. After watching the film, I found myself thinking that it was a good film. Tom Cruise was a good actor, and the role that he played was very believable. The film had a great plot, a good story, and good acting. Overall, this film was a good film. 7/10

I can't get over the fact that most of the people who give this movie a bad review are the same people who liked the other Cruise-Island movies. So I won't be doing that, except to say that the movie is more a love story than a drama. Cruise plays the role of a man who wants to be a family man and who goes into a drug-addiction induced haze. All the other characters play their roles to the best of their ability, with the exception of some of the actors who are in the movie for a few seconds. Overall, the movie is a good example of how not to make a movie. It is basically a love story in the middle of a drama, but the love story doesn't really have much of an impact on the plot. I'd say that the movie is pretty typical of the recent trend of movies that have the "cheap" crowd of people sitting in front of the television and enjoying a movie they know nothing about. You can see this in some of the "great" movies of the past such as the Godfather, Schindler's List, The Godfather: Part II, The Last Emperor, and A Clockwork Orange. There is nothing in this movie that makes it better than any of the others. The actors in the movie did a good job, but the plot is a mess. It makes no sense at all. I won't give away anything of the plot. Just don't expect a good movie and you'll enjoy it more. This movie is a lot like Forrest Gump, but not as good. The movie is worth watching for some of the beautiful scenery and some of the acting. I think that the movie was much better than the actors in it. 7/10
