It is impossible to ignore the influence of the likes of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas in the development of the film "Hannibal". However, despite a very superficial similarity in title, the two films are quite different in content and style. I won't try to discuss the themes and themes which were clearly outlined in the first (a little better) film. In this one, we have a sequence of events which seem to be the same but the writer and director have chosen to create an entirely different story. The emphasis on the technical aspects of film-making is absent in this one and what's left is the story of how the serial killer has been reactivated and what drove him to kill again. The biggest problem with this movie is the lack of continuity. The events that are taken place in the first one are different and there is no explanation for the way events are presented and the order in which they take place. Even if we accept that the idea of the serial killer, his back story and what he did in the beginning of the movie are the same, how can we explain the reoccurring violence and brutality in this movie? We are never allowed to find out why Hannibal murdered these people or why he killed again after a few days in the beginning. It seems like a story which is written by a schoolboy who has never done anything significant in his life and who is about to be sent to a mental hospital for no reason other than to introduce a character. The "movie" does not reach the same level of brilliance that the first one did. It's a decent movie but not a good one and as it's a sequel, it can only be appreciated by those who have already watched the original.
