In a major studio and multimedia presentation, Disney had long been on the backburner for good. With the transition to the golden age of Disney animation, the studio set about introducing new concepts and stylistic effects that would attract a younger audience and change the narrative for many films. With films such as "Fantasia" and "Ariel" in the pre-Disney era, the studio took a great leap to try and create an engaging animated story for the family. With "Fantasia" and "Ariel", the studio hit the ground running, and brought back the original story with memorable characters, a visually stunning plot, and fresh animation. However, with "The Little Mermaid" and "The Little Mermaid: Countess of Mermaid Manor" the studio's story and narrative was less refined. "The Little Mermaid" could easily be described as "modern Disney", the animation is dark, uninspired, and not animated very well. The story itself is vague, and leaves too many open questions. It is never clear who the protagonist is, nor what their purpose is, as it is all just very vague. "The Little Mermaid" is a strong narrative, but it is undermined by the fact that the animation is lackluster. Even with the superb animation, the story is a little lackluster and thin. This is one of the few Disney films that has the animation look like it was done in a slideshow. The animation on this film is never really off the mark, and it is rarely distracting. "The Little Mermaid" may have many flaws, but it is a great narrative that is told in a well crafted manner. For the most part, the animation is all but outstanding. The story is exciting, the characters are likable, and the script is well written. The animation is noteworthy, and some of the backgrounds are stunning. "The Little Mermaid" is an enjoyable film that is not as fantastic as its previous films, but still worth the watch. My Rating: 6.5/10

Just as the title of this review suggests, I was not expecting much from this film. I had only seen the TV commercial for the movie, and it was a good TV commercial, with the ad copy seeming a little "long". I was going to just watch the movie as a TV commercial, and if it wasn't very good, I wouldn't have watched it at all. I ended up liking it much more than I expected. It is very much like a TV commercial for the movie. You really feel like you are in the movie. The two main characters of the story, Eriko and Kasumi, are both very good actors, and it's amazing how the actors in the film are so believable, and yet still fit perfectly into their roles. It's very easy to feel for the characters in this film, and I can definitely say that I really cared for them. The acting in this film is truly excellent. It's not really the actors that really carry the movie, it's the director and writers that do. Every single character is very good at what they do, and the character development is very well done, in a lot of ways. You actually feel for the characters and actually feel for their struggle to survive in the real world. I could really tell that the director and writers took their time to really develop each of the characters, and to really make sure that the audience felt a part of the story. If the story was not well developed, it would not have worked. But once you understand that the story is about the struggle of a family to survive in the real world, and that the characters are really struggling to do that, it is much easier to understand and understand the struggle of the characters, and to feel a part of the story. I can definitely say that this is one of the best films I have ever seen, and it is definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen.
